Tropical cyclone UPDATE- Ken Now a hurricane
Tropical Storm Ken Now a Hurricane - hurricane warning in effect -Hurricane Winds expected
Antigua, Barbuda, SKB,Montserrat
At 2 pm, Tropical Storm Ken became a hurricane. It continues to move toward the islands, and impacts from sustained hurricane winds of 80 mph with gusts up to 100 mph are expected at midnight. These winds could cause infrastructural damage and disruption to utility and communication services. Large waves of 10 to 12 feet with storm surge are possible along coastal areas, mainly along the eastern section of the islands. Rainfall accumulation in excess of 90 mm in 3 hours will cause dangerous flash flooding and mudslides,
Preparation to save life and property should be completed by 8 pm tonight. Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas should move to higher ground and remain in a safe location until the all-clear is given. Mariners should remain in port and seek safe anchorage. Sea bathing is prohibited.
